Gingko color study #4
Gouache and silkscreen on somerset cotton paper

These little gouache and silkscreen color studies are one-of-a-kind works, not reproductions. Pieces are signed, by me, and titled on the back.

Gingko trees, considered a living fossil (genus dates back to the Middle Jurassic), are native to China but thrive in many parts of the world. Because of the survival of six particular trees near the 1945 atom bomb explosion at Hiroshima, gingkos as a symbol are associated with tenacity and peace. Although almost all other plants and animals in area were killed, those six trees survived and were soon healthy again.
