• Current Exhibit:

Several of my found-object sculptures, including two new works, can currently be seen at Cafe Brule, in Vermillion, SD. This exhibit will be up until the end of April.

  • Upcoming Residencies:

I'm very excited to share that I'll be assisting SD Artist Ariadne Albright with an Artist-in-the-Schools residency at Valley Springs Elementary, in Brandon, SD. While in residency April 30-May 3, we will be working with children in grades K-5 to create a huge mural in their gymnasium!

Immediately following that residency, I will be Artist-in-Residence here in Vermillion, at Austin Elementary School, May 6-17th. I'm quite pleased that I will get to work with all of the kindergarteners on some special book projects. I truly cannot wait to spend time with them! Look for pics on the facebook page, once the residencies are completed...

  • On-going Classes:

I will be continuing a series of classes on Artist's Books at the Washington Street Art Center, in Vermillion. Next class is Thursday, March 28th, 7-9:30pm.

A new season of ArtPlay will begin this coming Monday, March 25th, 10:30-11:30am. The class will continue on Mondays/Wednesdays until April 17th. Also at the Washington Street Art Center

  • *First Exhibition of 2013*

One of my newest prints, Generous Delusions, will be included in this year's MAPC (MidAmerican Print Council) Juried Members Exhibition. The work is a stretched print - a collagraph printed on cotton fabric, and is part of a new body of printwork still in progress.

More information about the exhibition can be found here:

  • *It's Getting Busier Around Here...*

Wow! It's been too long since I've posted any news, but that's not because things haven't been happening...

I have a large new body of work created earlier this summer, that is being slowly uploaded to the site. Check out the folder marked Printwork 2011-12. More will be added soon!

In exhibition news, there are three shows to tell you about:

The South Dakota Governor's Fifth Biennial Exhibition, which includes my mixed media work Propagations, will be opening soon at the South Dakota Art Museum in Brookings, SD. More info can be found here.
And a very lovely digital version of the catalog can be found here.

The First Juried Exhibition at the Washington Pavilion of Arts and Sciences in Sioux Falls, SD also opens soon - public reception on Saturday, September 15th. My sculptural piece entitled Celestial will be included. It looks like it's going to be a great show.

And lastly, I'm super excited to share that I will have three! works included in the 64 Arts 2012 Exhibition at the Buchanan Center for the Arts in Monmouth, Illinois. The works included are Fabric of Society, Blank Slate, and Tenuous. The show was juried by artist Eric Fischl, who will be present for the opening reception on Friday, September 7th! I'm not sure that I'll be able to travel to the show, but I think it's going to be a fantastic exhibition. More info can be found here.

There'll be more to share soon!
    Best,
    Susan
